Legal Information
Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Refund Policy
How We Protect Your Privacy
Simple Promise: Localizee is a native macOS app. Your project files never leave your Mac unless you initiate an AI translation. We collect no accounts, no analytics, and no telemetry.
Information We Process
Localizee processes only the data necessary to provide translation:
- Your .xcstrings file contents (read locally, sent to AI provider only during translation)
- Your API keys (stored in your Mac's system Keychain, never transmitted to us)
- App preferences (stored locally in UserDefaults — language settings, view preferences, provider selection)
- Purchase status (verified through the App Store — we receive only entitlement data, not payment details)
How Translation Works
When you translate a string, the source text and translation context are sent to the AI provider you selected:
- In BYOK mode: your strings go directly to the AI provider using your own API key. We are not involved.
- In Included AI mode (Pro): your strings are routed through our server proxy, which injects the API key and forwards the request. We do not store your strings, log them, or retain them after the response is returned.
In both modes, your strings are processed by the AI provider under their terms of service. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of the AI provider you use.
What We Don't Do
- We do not create user accounts
- We do not collect email addresses, names, or personal information
- We do not track usage analytics or telemetry
- We do not use your strings or translations to train any AI model
- We do not share any data with third parties for marketing
- We do not store your project files on any server
Data Storage
All data is stored locally on your Mac:
- Project files: read from and saved to the location you choose
- API keys: stored in macOS Keychain with kSecAttrAccessibleWhenUnlocked protection
- Preferences: stored in the app's UserDefaults sandbox
- Purchase status: cached locally, verified through the App Store
No cloud storage. No sync. No server-side data retention.
Your Rights
Since Localizee stores all data locally on your device, you have complete control:
- Delete the app and all local data is removed
- API keys can be deleted from Keychain through the app's Settings
- Purchase records are managed through your App Store account
- No account deletion request is needed because no account exists
International Data Transfers
When you use AI translation, your string content is sent to the AI provider's servers, which may be located outside your country. This only occurs when you actively initiate a translation. No data is transferred at rest or in the background.
